2010 Clergy / Clergy Wives Prayer Convocation
At the beginning of every year, Remo Diocesan Clergy and Clergywives had faithfully kept to the tradition of a Holy Convocation but this year was peculiar.
Peculiarity of 2010 Convocations

The unconditional love to be expressed by the husband will in no small measure helps the wife to perform all her duties at home knowing fully well that she equally has a stake in her husband’s life.

  • Reactions based what were presented
  • Mutual expression of minds
  • Then the Holy Communion service conducted by Ven. S.O. Oladelo.
  • Anointing of both the Clergy and their wives by the Bishop concluded the programme

DIOCESAN WOMEN ORGANISATION HOUSE AT OLIWO AWONUSI ESTATE: HOW WE MADE IT
by Mrs Toyin Fape, President Diocesan Woman Organisation.

The Women Organisation bought the piece of land in the year 1978.  Not until year 2004 at the executive meeting of the Women Organisation was a decision taken to do something on the land.  Women of the Diocese started donating blocks which was used to fenced the land.  Among the significant donors were Olori Abosede Sonariwo who donated 1000 block and late Mrs Olorunfemi Ogunlesi who launched the ‘donate a block’ in the plane on her way travelling out of the country. Mrs Olatundun Ogunbanwo was the Supervisor then.

In January 2008, during the meeting of the Iya Ijos and Iya Egbe Aya Bisoobu, it was decided that blocks of hostels be built to mark the 25th anniversary of the Women’s Guild of the Diocese which anniversary was coming up later in the year.  Building committee was thereafter constituted and inaugurated under the Chairmanship of Mrs Foluke Babatunji.  Other members were: Mrs Titilayo Fadugba, Mrs S.D. Ajileye, Chief Mrs C.O. Olutunda, Otunba Aderonke Odumuyiwa, Yeye Funmi Arikawe, Chief Mrs Ayo Akideinde, Otunba Mercy Sonubi and Chief Mrs Ajayi.

Architect Olu Akintorin Surveyor Orepitan and Rev Canon Dr Yinka Gbotosho all offered their services as Architect, Surveyor and Artist respectively without taking a penny from the Women at various time at the beginning of the project. Builder Olu Sokoya, the Diocesan Builder Engineer supervised the project from escarvation to completion.  Mr Mota Odumusi offered technical advice while Rev Kayode Odunlami is still pursuing the Certificate of Occupancy.

The foundation laying ceremony of the project was performed on Saturday July 8, 2008 and the first building in the complex was completed and dedicated on Monday November 16, 2009.  Yeye H.I.D. Awolowo, Chief Mrs Mercy Owolana and Alagba and Mama Oyeniyi were all present on the day of foundation laying and were all alive when the project was dedicated.  The personal contribution of Yeye H.I.D. Awolowo was significant in that she held the project very dear to her heart and gave more than N1million.  Chief Mrs C.O. Olutunda donated a borehole as well.

There is a purpose for building the flats.

  1. To use the rent money in taking care of old members,
  2. To use the rent money in caring for true widows with no meaningful support at old age
  3. To give scholarship to indigent children.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MRS TOYIN FAPE AND THE ENTIRE WOMEN ORGANISATION FOR THE FEAT ACHIEVED.

REMO DIOCESE, CHURCH OF NIGERIA, (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)
COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE THIRD SESSION OF THE NINTH SYNOD HELD FROM THURSDAY, 20TH MAY TO SUNDAY, 23RD MAY, 2010 AT ST PETER’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, ISARA - REMO, OGUN STATE.

The Synod with the Theme “Tithing: A covenant of blessing from God” Malachi 3:10, was duly constituted, and presided over by the President of the Synod, The Rt. Rev. Dr M. Olusina Fape, Bishop of Remo.  He was assisted by the Chancellor and other Diocesan officials.
At the end of the four-day Synod, this communiqué was issued:

1.            TITHING:
In accordance with the theme of the Synod, ‘Tithing: A covenant of blessing from God’, Synod reminded all Christians that tithing, being an unparalleled message of the Bible designed by God to enable the children of God realize in full, the blessedness of their financial prosperity should be embraced and practiced by all in accordance with the Biblical principles so as to be able to operate at the optimal level of God’s blessedness.  Synod therefore enjoins all Christians, especially those in the Anglican Communion, to bring their tithes to the altar of sacrifice faithfully so that God, through their instrumentality may reveal the beauty of His truth.

2.            INDECENT DRESSING:
Synod views, very critically, the issue of indecent dressing among our youths and admonishes parents to address this ugly trend. Synod appreciates the efforts of the Mothers’ Union in ensuring proper dressing by all, particularly, the womenfolk.

3.            OGUN STATE:
Synod commends the government of Ogun State for the relative peace and numerous democratic dividends of democracy and admonishes that with the general elections coming up in year 2011, as citizens of this Country and Ogun State in particular, we must eschew politics with bitterness.  Let us cast our votes in the fear of God knowing fully that we are giving our votes to those who have what it takes to govern us and not hooligans under the guise of politicians.  If we are careless with our vote, we may pay dearly with bad government, frustration and regrets.

4.            STATE OF THE NATION:
(a)          Synod commiserates with the nation and, in particular, the family of our late President, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’Adua on the death, in active service of President Yar’Adua.  Also, Synod joins all patriotic citizens in wishing our new President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCON, a successful tenure of office.
(b)          Synod passionately appeals to all political parties and politicians to approach the next general election coming up in 2011 with maturity and self-control putting the interest of the nation first in their dealings and not making winning the election a do or die affair.  INEC should make all efforts for a level playing ground for all parties so that the elections can be free and fair.
(c)           Synod notes that our Nation can only progress in a very peaceful atmosphere devoid of insecurity epitomized by the menace of kidnapping, high level assassination, religious and ethnic crises and general unrest in various areas.  Therefore, the Federal Government should do something urgently in order to ensure adequate security of lives and property in the Nation.
(d)          Synod notes the laudable aspiration of the Country to be among the top 20 Countries in the world soonest but expresses reservation about this goal without a stable power supply since uninterrupted power supply is crucial to achieving our vision.  Once again, Synod calls on those in charge to set aside mere propaganda of delivering 6000 or 1000 megawatts of electricity and face the reality of putting in place the right infrastructures to bail us out of this epileptic power supply and set us on the path of growth in every dimension.

Rt. Rev Dr. M.O. Fape, Diocesan Bishop                   Ven. D. I. Fadugba, Synod Clerical Secretary
